This is a staple in our daily nutrition. Beyond being incredibly tasty, it's also packed with protein and nutrients that are imperative to repairing your body and maintaining a healthy diet. We recommend drinking at least one of these at the tail end of a workout or during periods between meals as a snack. It's quick to make and quick to drink; convenient would be the best word. We use a 24oz Ninja blender cup, but any blender that can hold 24oz or more will do. (You can also just scale the ingredient amounts back if you want a small shake.) The ingredients are:
2 Ice Cubes
1/4 Cup Chia Seeds
2 Scoops Whey Protein (~45g of Protein)
1/2 Cup Kale
1 Cup Frozen Berries (Raspberries, Blackberries, Strawberries and Blueberries)
1 Cup Water
A 24oz shake is recommended, providing meaningful amounts of valuable nutrients.
2 Ice Cubes
Start with two ice cubes at the bottom of the blender cup.
1 Cup Frozen Berries
Berries provide and excellent source of key vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. We use frozen berries to provide an extra chill with the ice cubes...blackberries, raspberries, strawberries and blueberries.
2 Scoops of Protein
Next add your protein in. We use a blend of whey and casein protein for a sustained metabolic release in the body. Two scoops is about 45 grams of protein for us. Shoot for anywhere between 35 and 50 grams of protein.
Add the Water
Add about 1 cup of water right after putting the protein powder in the blender in order to fill in the crevices made by the frozen berries and ice. You can substitute with all types of milk too.
Cut a ripe avocado in half, remove the pit, and squeeze into the blender.
1/4 Cup of Chia Seeds will add fiber and additional protein to the shake.
Add in the Greens...
Kale is the most nutrient rich leafy veggie. 1/4 to 1/2 cup of this will do wonders for your nutrition.
Before the Blend
You've finished adding in all the ingredients...which means you should have a heaping conglomerate of nutrition in your blender cup. One step to go!
